Frequently Asked Questions

Experience & Qualifications

What level of experience does AOG typically look for?

We generally seek candidates with 3+ years of professional or military aviation maintenance experience. While most of our commercial customers work on Boeing, Airbus or Embraer planes, we have found that experience on C-5, C-17, or C-130 platforms provides the right knowledge base to apply to commercial planes.

Do you work with veterans who have recently been discharged, but don't have commercial aircraft experience?

Yes! Experience working on C-5, C-17, or C-130 platforms is often sufficient to begin working on commercial platforms. Furthermore, several of our MRO customers specifically seek veterans because they service military and government aircraft.

I have military aircraft experience but no commercial aviation background. Are there opportunities for me?

Yes, particularly if your military experience aligns with the aircraft types serviced by our government and military contract clients. Furthermore, we have found experience working on C-5, C-17, or C-130 platforms provides the right knowledge base to apply to commercial planes. We can discuss how your specific military aircraft experience translates to our available opportunities.

What if I've already transitioned to civilian aviation work?

Perfect! Many of our veteran candidates have already made the transition to commercial aviation and are looking for better opportunities, pay, or work environments. We work with experienced aviation professionals regardless of their career path.

Certifications & Licensing

Do I need an A&P license for all positions?

No. We have opportunities for both FAA-licensed and unlicensed aviation technicians.

Can you help me get my A&P license?

While we don't provide certification training directly, we can connect you with resources and discuss the best pathways based on your military background.

Do you work with veterans who have security clearances?

Absolutely. Security clearances are highly valued, especially for positions involving government contracts or military aircraft maintenance.
